I always marvel at the power of the sea, especially when the winter Nor'easters blow on the coast of New England. Known as "Extra-Tropical Cyclones, or Bomb Cyclones, the north east winds blow off shore as the waves pound the beaches. I always run to the shore to enjoy the spectacle. In this image, the fierce winds blow the tops off the rising waves as they crash, creating the artistic visual of Wild Horses charging from the sea.

The colors and patterns are omni-present in our world. These are what lead me to landscape photography at the start. As I explore from location to location my mind wanders and I take in all she (mother nature) has to show me. I am drawn not to the photo, but the unique visual within. Sometimes a sunset, or rise will dip behind clouds low in the atmosphere, but on this day there was a tiny gap on the horizon in an otherwise overcast day. That was all the power of our star needed to put on this show.
It is of course "all about perspective" Of all the many variable in photography, perspective is king! It can and will change every and any setting you select. Down here in the dune grass it is a delicate balance of focus and depth of field, but the balance of light and dark all come together to produce what is art. Here, a brilliant setting sun can't get much lower, but things look different down here. The highlights and shadows balance the focal point in the grass in what I think a stunning image.

Simplicity in Motion. On a calm morning, the water in the harbor had barely a ripple. In as calming manner as I feel this image perveys, there is also adverse powers at work. The waves of a distant ferry wake not only came to the bulkhead, but rebounded off of it, causing the waves to travel at intersecting angles. It in not a single set of waves.

This has been one of my favorite images and hangs in my own home above the fireplace mantle. I love the irony ;) The most unique features of this photo is that there is no motion in the water. It was a calm night, but the smooth layer of ice was the finishing touch.

Spring Rise
Sunrise of the First Day of Spring, and this photo beautifully reproduces this amazing morning. It was one of the calmest days I can remember, and the sunrise was so brilliant, many people who have viewed this image in person have asked if it was lighted from behind.

Linear Moonrise
It was a Full "Cold" Moon Rising Over Fire Island Inlet that night, as the December full moon is known, and oh boy do I remember how cold it was, but as the moon rose through the streaks of clouds above the horizon, the ripples in the waters enhanced the streaks of clouds in the sky and it truely was a linear moonrise.
